Kiefer Public Schools is busy planning for the 2020-21 school year. We can’t wait to welcome students and staff members back to the classroom, even though school may look different than it has in the past.
As the current health crisis continues to evolve, it is impossible to know what the future holds; therefore, we must plan and prepare for different situations and challenges. Most importantly, students and staff must be safe. Our schools also must continue to be comfortable and welcoming places to work and to learn. We have reviewed our parent and staff surveys and listened to those who have called and emailed with questions.
We are doing everything we can to protect the health of our students and staff and are basing our plans on your concerns as much as possible. Some of the new safety measures include wearing facemasks by staff and students and social distancing practices.
This year classes will begin on August 19th. You will have a choice between a traditional school setting which is the All On Site Setting which we have had in the past, Combined On Site and Virtual School, or All Online Virtual School. We will be providing training and collaboration for our staff and training for our students at the beginning of school and during virtual school days on the second Monday of every month. School will be out during the Virtual Days and students will login to our virtual school to acclimate them for future use during such events as snow days and in the event of close downs. We were fortunate to receive two federal COVID CARE grants that helped us to purchase our online learning program, Acellus and enough chromebooks for students to use in school and for students using our virtual school in the event that they do not have a device at home to use.
You will be receiving our School Reopening Plan within the next week. Enrollment will begin July 20th. Please call 918-321-3533 for information. Thank you for your input and support. We look forward to welcoming our students on August 19th. We know that these are worrying times for all of us, but we will all work together as we always have to create the best and safest education possible for our students.
